I'm creating this board because I want to know what everyone feels is the most underrated Anime. By underrated I mean good animes that that never really caught on or is known by a lot of people.
Personally, 2 of my favorite animes were very successful in Japan, but never really caught on in the United States. These 2 are Initial D and Case Closed.
Case Closed stars a kid named Jimmy Kudo. Kudo is a high school detective who turns into back into a kid after walking into a shady deal and is knocked out and given a pill. The pill was an experimental pill that was thought to kill people, but actually turned him into a kid. So to cover up his identity fearing that the "Men dressed in Black" could find him and kill him, he came up with the name Conan Edogawa on the fly. So now he goes around with his high school friend Rachel and her washed up detective dad Richard Moore solving crimes hoping that it will lead him to finding the "Men in Black" also known as the Black Organization. 130 Episodes and 6 movies were Dubbed to English and the series is still going on in Japan to this day. It has been on tv since 1996 and currently is on Season 24 and as of now (March 14, 2015) just aired its 771 episode.

Sources for the plot of anime series are most often: manga (Japanese comics), runobe (light story), or computer games (usually in the “visual novel” genre). The screen version usually retains the graphic style and other features of the original. Other sources are less commonly used, for example, works of classical literature.

Anime - Japanese animation. Unlike cartoons from other countries, intended mainly for viewing by children, most of the anime produced is designed for teenage and adult audiences, and due to this it is very popular in the world
